Fashion Friday: Transitional Pieces

Happy Friday Beauties!

Raise your hand if you still have some summer pieces you wish you would have worn before the season ended. I know the feeling! Every year I’m always left with something from the previous season in my closet with tags. Let’s face it, sometimes it’s a couples years later and I still haven’t worn those clothes with tags and that’s when I have to make the decision to do a full closet raid and donate clothes!

One summer clothing piece, I’ve been obsessed with for awhile is palazzo pants and while there are some suede and velvet palazzos for this season. I still want to wear some of fave that will transition into this season.

These leopard print palazzo are from Forever 21 Plus and they are a size 1x. I snagged these pants on sale for $15 towards the end of summer. There’s a thin lining in the pants and if you desire more coverage for the winter simple add a pair of stockings underneath. The lining prevents some of the sheerness of these pants but let’s face it, some fall/winter nights can be extremely cold, so while putting a pair of tights might not be traditionally ideal under palazzos, it can be very beneficial for this freezing nights!

This look can be dress up or down with a classic black blazer, a black moto jacket, or a oversized cardigan. The outfit ideas are endless with these pants!

Another fab transitional piece for this season, maxi dresses! Maxi dresses can easily be paired with shirts/turtlenecks underneath, blazers, leather jackets and more! Neon is heavily on trend this fall 2018. So if you have neon maxis and you were planning to pack them for fall/winter, don’t put them away just yet! Neon colors with leather gives a very chic, edgy look!

Three Must Have Fall Staples: Thrift Edition

I don’t know about you guys but the cooler temps has me super excited to bring out the fall fashions! That’s why today’s post is all about budget-friendly fall wardrobe staples every girl should have in their closet.

•Blazer- This fall suits and sneakers are heavily on trend. I’ll be honest I love a good blazer, with a cute pair of jeans and heels in the fall/winter. But, what I love even more than that is getting several blazers for under $10! This is where thrift shopping comes in handy. My tip for shopping thrift blazers, always dry clean the blazers.

• Leather skirts/pants- Shopping at the thrift store, I have found the best quality of leather in vintage, old pieces! There are so many ways to style a good leather fashion piece. It’s a classic fall/winter piece that can be styled in many ways! I purchased this leather skirt for $2.99. Talk about a great deal!

•Oversized pieces- Although, not pictured, oversized denim, sweaters, and dusters are my favorite to shop for fall. There are so many ways to express your fashion creative side by just layering. If you feel that the layering is too bulky, simply add a belt. If you’re bold, use pattern plays to show off your style. I’ll be honest, I’m not quite there with the mixing patterns, but I’ve been starting small to see what works for me and my style. In fashion, never say never until you’ve actually tried it on!

What To Wear To MCFW

Magic City Fashion Week is right around the corner and with so many great events to attend its hard to contain my excitement! What is Magic City Fashion Week you ask? Let me give you a little background. MCFW was founded in 2017, bringing Birmingham Alabama’s creatives and fashion community together while raising awareness for HIV through community outreach. The lineup for this year’s event is filled with fun, networking, and great fashions, of course!

Not sure of what to wear to one of the many events of MCFW? Keep reading below for outfit inspo.

The color theme for season two this year is red, so I decided to plan my street style around this fab, thrifted blazer. The bold redness of this blazer is a sure way to stand out in any crowd. Adding a screen tee to any blazer is a stylish way dress down a blazer for a casual, chic look. My ripped jeans and vans completed this street style look. I decided to keep my jewelry simple with hoop earrings, and two small necklaces.

Shopping Your Closet

Happy Monday Beauties!

Do you suffer from thinking you have to buy a new outfit for every event? If you answered yes, don’t feel bad; I once suffered from the same. That’s why this post is all about how I shop my closet and revamp old looks. I’m also dishing out a few tips as well!

So let’s do a little flashback, I made my first post in this duster last year on Instagram. I kept it real simple and paired this duster with a white shirt, jeans and black pumps.

Revamp Queen

When it comes to shopping your personal closet to revamp looks, simple things such as adding a belt or statement pieces can take your revamped look and make it look like a brand new outfit!

Here are my three simple steps for shopping your personal closet:

Get Inspired

Inspiration plays a huge part in creating revamped looks! One of my favorite places to look for inspiration is Pinterest. Click here to check out my boards for inspiration.

•Mix and Match

Don’t be afraid to mix different colors and prints! Take a day to literally play dress up! Get in the mirror and model your beautiful revamped looks. Take pictures of each outfit you try on and create an album in your phone.

So now when you have an event to attend you won’t have to scramble or think about putting looks together again. Just simply recreate the looks from your album!

Get Your Closet Ready

For me, it’s hard to “shop my closet” when my closet is a catastrophe( yes, I said catastrophe) and finding inspiration is even harder! For items you no longer want, pack up your items and drop them off to a thrift store. If you have clothing that are not too dated or worn, then consider using Poshmark, or even a yard sale! A little extra cash never hurt anyone!

Are you feeling inspired? I can’t wait to see your revamped looks! Shoot me an email, tag me on Instagram or send me a dm with your looks!

Fall Bucket List/Outfit Details

I can’t believe Fall is almost here(September 22)! Although the temperatures here in Birmingham seem to think otherwise. Today’s post is all about my fall bucket list and of course details on this gorgeous dress!

I’ve always wanted to make a bucket list, so I figured what better time then now! I’ve decided to keep my list short and simple, so I can stay fully committed to completing this list before fall is over. Here’s my bucket list for fall:

Cook/Host My First Thanksgiving

Dinner this year is bound to be one for the books! I love to cook, always have. Hubby, not so much. This will definitely be an adventure, I can’t help but laugh and be excited just thinking about it.

Pick A Pumpkin

I mean, what’s fall without the pumpkins and fall decor?

Have A Fall Photoshoot

Stay tuned, I’ve been planning our fall outfits for quite sometime! Fall pictures are always so beautiful!

Donate to A Food Bank/Volunteer

The holidays are always the busiest at shelters. It’s so important to think about the less fortunate as we all celebrate the holidays with our families.

Visit the State Fair

I’ll never get too old for the fair! Plus it’s the perfect opportunity to indulge, guilt free, on a funnel cake!

2018 Fall Fashion Trends

Fall is right around the corner and with all of the runway 2018 fall trends that have debuted, it’s hard not to be overly excited for the fall season! But let’s be honest, some of us can’t wear the ”runway” trendy looks in our everyday life routines. So I’ve rounded up 4 fall trends from the runway that will transition into the ”everyday” lifestyle.

First up, straight from the runway is animal prints. From Calvin Klein to Givenchy, animal print has been making its way around the designer’s stages. Cheetah prints and bold tiger stripes are definitely an eye full to look at and if you’re a little hesitant about wearing animal prints, start out slow by incorporating small accessories, bags, and shoes.

Next up, Foil! I must say metallics are definitely a trend that has grown on me through the years and needless to say it has made the 2018 fall fashion runways again. Not sure of how metallics or foils will look on you? Before trying a full metallic/foil look, try simple pieces such as the skirts below.

Now on to the third trend, ruching. The great thing about ruching is that the detailing is very figure flattering! Who doesn’t love a good figure flattering, trendy look? I know I do! Midi- dresses with side ruching will definitely be an it factor this fall.

Last but not least on my list is “sexy suiting”. Now whether this trend is for the office or a fun night on the town, I’ll leave that up to you to decide. This trend has definitely made a statement on the runway this year. Jonathan Simkhai suited look was by far my fave(see below).

Of course, some of the runway looks you’ll see of this trend will not be an everyday or evening look for the everyday woman. However, this trend is still very attainable with asymmetrical necklines, deep v necklines and trendy, sleeved blazers!

Outfit of The Day

Happy Wednesday Beauties!

At least two to three times a week, I’m asked about where I shop for my clothes. I often hear some of the ladies say that they can’t afford to “shop like that” for many various reasons. I’m a firm believer that you don’t have to shop for the most expensive or designer clothing to look your best! Although I’m a fan of designer pieces, it’s important to know how to incorporate the designer with lower priced clothing.

This entire look was under $60 and today I’m sharing with you two ways to shop affordable clothing.

“Sometimes less is more when it comes to prints!”

When shopping in inexpensive clothing stores, I find that it is sometimes better to stay away from certain prints because of the cheaper materials. It may be the same print as other clothing in higher quality stores but the material plays a major factor in how the garment looks on.

“When in doubt, try it on!”

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found the perfect dress for $10, that’s my exact size and then I get home and can’t wear it. When shopping in inexpensive stores never be afraid to try a variety of sizes. In certain stores and clothing styles, I’ve been able to shop a size L and even some 2x.
